JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Business Unit Manager for the assigned Business Unit (High Flow, Low Flow, Special Products, Molding), the Lead Business Unit Coordinator (BUC) is responsible for achieving production requirements including Plant Safety Standard, GMP and quality standards, weekly scheduling requirements, and budgeted costs of production.
The Lead BUC is also generally responsible for coordinating plant objectives through delegation of responsibility and accountability to shift facilitators and hourly personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist with daily planning/scheduling and coordinate the day-to-day operation of assigned Business Unit (High Flow, Low Flow, Special Products, and Molding).
Provide direction to shift facilitators and hourly workforce within the areas of safety, staffing, scheduling, methods/means of production, quality and waste standards, efficiencies and productivity, employee relations, and reinforcement of company policies and procedures.
Promote positive employee relations.
Consult with, and take direction from, Human Resources and Business Unit Manager, regarding special employee problems, policies, discipline and labor relations initiatives or issues, etc.
Support BD/plant improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Validation, LEAN, and training, working to provide the necessary resources to drive the success of these programs.
Direct effort toward the reduction of process variation, while ensuring that manufactured products meet quality and GMP requirements.
Monitor and react to daily productivity and waste issues.
Work closely with the Business Unit Manager to establish departmental budgets, C2W goals and utilization or improvement objectives.
Communicate and reinforce objectives with direct subordinates and Core Team Members.
Monitor staffing needs and communicate staffing issues or shortages to Business Unit and Human Resources Managers.
Coordinate and/or initiate personnel requisitions for approval.
Develop direct reports and provide performance feedback to direct reports.
Generate preliminary annual performance appraisals for review by the Business Unit and Human Resources Managers.
The Lead BUC will administer performance appraisals to his/her direct reports, provide feedback and direction regarding personal contribution or effectiveness, goals, objectives and recommendations for personal development.
Ensure that associates receive effective performance related feedback and training.
Monitor and protect company assets.
Reinforce company expectations regarding employee contribution and behavior/ conduct.
Interact with the Business Unit Manager and Engineering Core Team Member to coordinate preventative maintenance.
Assist with the scheduling and coordination of work during the annual shutdown period.
Facilitate weekly Core Team Meetings and provide monthly report to the Leadership Team.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED A four (4) year degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field required.
Three (3) to five (5) years experience as a supervisor within an industrial/manufacturing setting.
Previous experience supervising salaried and hourly employees with multi-shift and cross-departmental responsibilities preferred.
Experience in setting and working toward the achievement of manufacturing budgets, developed interpersonal skills and the ability to reinforce expectations or goals while holding employees accountable to desired results and an applied understanding of industrial safety and OSHA and regulatory compliance.
